Kosovo Rocky Road to Independence

Kosovo had a very rocky road that culminated in declaration of independence on February 18, 2008 when the leaders of that country declared that momentous decision. There still lot of protestation from the side of Serbia and Russia Federation. The key EU members have their foreign ministers declare their recognition. Admitting to the United Nations need to be seen and any obstructive role Russia may play. This event of Kosovo independence is a joyful day for the Kosovars and in stark to the moments of desperation when the Milosovic the iron hand ruler of Serbia was determined to evacuate all Kosovo from the Kosovars. This was blocked by Bill Clinton and massive bombing of Serbia infra-structure. Later the UN troops and American troops were deployed to keep peace and prevent Serbia from taking a military action. Kosovo understandably will remain by itself and will not join Albania and greater Albania scheme. The Kosvars seems more religiously Moslem conservatives than fellow Albanians who lived for more than fifty years under strict atheist regime.
Kosovo still have a rough road ahead trying to pacify the strong Serbian Kosovars in the north part of their new country, particularly in the city of Mitrovica.
Bill Clinton is widely admired by the Kosovars and in his honor they have a major Boulevard in his name in Pristina.
In more news: Kosovo’s declaration of independence, which John McCain accepts was implicitly recognized by Cindy McCain when she met with Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci in Kosovo’s capital Pristina.
