Dogs As Pets In Islam Should Be Fine Why The Objection?

Some Moslems object of having dogs as pets for various religious references. Some may call it hard Shariia interpretation. May be the very origin was the wild dogs that roams in town and dwellings and may cause and spread diseases.
Islam is religion of simplicity and no harsh law and it mends with time. There is no need that some who may refer as its edicts be frozen with time. Dogs as pets are very lovely creatures and sensitive. They can provide comfort specially for lonely people.
Why so such hard judgment by some Moslems who refuse to see the whole picture.
