LOS ANGELES — Hundreds of students ardently packed the steps of Kerckhoff Hall at the UCLA on the eve of May 9, 2008 as the results were read for the 2008-2009 undergraduate student government elections.
As the energetic crowd held its breath, waiting impatiently for the announcement, the moment was upon them: Homaira Hosseini was announced as the next president for USAC, the first Muslim to be elected to such a position in the history.
