You Do Not Need To Be Arab To Be an Arab
You do not need to be an Arab to be an Arab. The first mention of the word Arab is an ethnic term while the second mention of the word Arab is a culture term. Through the Arab history the term Arab was used for the ones who became part of the Arab history, notably, Salah El-Din Al-Auobi who liberated the holy lands from the crusaders is considered a bona-fine an Arab leader regardless to the fact he was an ethnic Kurd. So many religious jurists, scholars, scientists, and philosophers are considered to be Arabs whether ethnically they were Arabs or not. On the other hands sometimes like in north Africa as in Morocco and Algeria the Berbers may resent being called Arabs tossing aside they are part of the Arab culture. Christian groups in Egypt, Jordan, Syria they are refereed to being Arab by the fact that they speak Arabic. The Christian Assyrian in Iraqs is kind of exception more and more openly they resent being called Arabs even they speak Arabic besides their Assyrian ancestor's language. The Nubian's in Egypt they accept of being called Arab since they live in an Arab culture and they do not want to separate themselves from the dominant population and thus generating resentment as being different and may be perceived as a threat. In Turkey the Armenians call themselves being Turks but not Turkish, a play with with semantics and words.
